We were delighted to be ranked top in the UK for Student Satisfaction in the latest Complete University Guide 2024… no mean achievement given there are 94 other Universities where you could study Media in the UK !
Head of Media and Communication Professor Richard Thomas described the result as “great recognition of the learning community within Media at Swansea that staff and students have worked to hard to develop”. The fact that students were so positive about their experience of studying with us during the pandemic, he explains, “really underlines how everyone pulled together – students and staff just had to adapt quickly, roll their sleeves up and make the best of what we all had”. The students, he added, “were brilliantly patient and supportive as many of us had to develop new ways of teaching and learning as we went along”.
Admissions Tutor Iwan Williams called this “a rewarding and heartening result” . “When we meet students and their parents at Open Days” he explains, “we always stress to them that the academic Media and Communication staff will challenge them, encourage them and push them to achieve their potential through innovative and imaginative assessments”. All this is done, adds Iwan “within the context of a small and friendly department where we will get to know them by name, and where we will always have their backs academically, personally and professionally”.
“The fact that our students are the most satisfied media students in the country” he concludes, means that “we’ve succeeded in keeping those Open Day promises.”
